On June 10, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Well being Canada announced that IKEA House Furnishings of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, was expanding a voluntary recall of roman blinds, roller blinds and roll-up window blinds and shades due to safety concerns. The IKEA recall involves about three million extra window blinds imported from India, Estonia, China and Poland and sold in IKEA shops from January 1998 by means of home automation June 2009. The total quantity of IKEA blinds recalled by the retailer is 4.five million.

A voluntary window blind recall in December 2009 and updated in April 2010, involved multiple firms recalling millions of window blinds and shades like roman shades and roll-up blinds due to threat of strangulation to young young children. The U.S. CPSC had received reports of serious injuries and death due to strangulation of young kids.

IKEA residence automation Recalled Window Blinds

The IKEA blinds recall includes all roman, roll-up window blinds and shades sold at IKEA retailers amongst January 1998 via June 2009. The IKEA recall involves window roller blinds without a tension device attached to the bead chain. The window roller blinds with a tension device are not included in the window blind recall.
